The P.I. Foundation was established in 1979 as a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization to provide aid to tax exempt rehabilitation facilities that help individuals with disabilities. The primary purpose of the P.I. Foundation is to provide support to Progress Industries.
Progress Industries is an independent, private nonprofit rehabilitation agency that helps individuals with disabilities realize their dreams and exercise real choices about where they work, live and recreate.
Progress Industries provides services for over 375 individuals with a variety of disabilities including mental retardation, mental illness, and autism as well as many visual and physical disabilities throughout central Iowa.
Progress Industries provides paid work and training in both community-based and sheltered settings. Residential services are provided to over 250 persons in community-based settings in Polk and Jasper Counties. Many of he persons served are living in apartments and houses rented to them personally, not Progress Industries. All of the homes are scattered throughout the community and integrated into their neighborhoods.
